First unity, then government: CPN MC Chair Dahal

CHITWAN: CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party was making efforts to finalise unity with the CPN-UML before the formation of the new government.

During a press meet organised by Press Centre in Chitwan today, Chairman Dahal reiterated, "It's normal the new government would be formed. But the party wants to have unity between the two parties before the government formation."

He further said personally he was for the party unity before government because it would be the respect to the people's mandate. “It also reflects the commitment made before people,” the party Chair underscored.

However, the party would reach a conclusion on it in a day or two, according to him.

The Chairman informed that the new government would be formed in the second week of Falgun.

He criticised the current government saying that it has made serious mistakes with various decisions. Its decisions have debunked its character.

Making comment about government's decision of declaring martyrs to those killed in Badarmude carnage, Maoist Centre Chairman Prachanda said it was not a good trend to announce martyrs by every government arbitrarily.

"Setting criteria is imperative before declaring any martyrs," he argued.

He expressed the belief that the Madhes centric parties would also join the new government.
