Lalitpur, January 18:

Five members of a family who were on way to Patan hospital for a delivery were killed and two seriously injured when their taxi collided with a speeding bus at Lalitpur last night. The accident occurred at 11pm when a Janata Yatayat bus coming from Satdobato crushed the taxi at Kusunti.

Two died on the spot and three others died while undergoing treatment at Patan hospital. The dead have been identified as Dal Bahadur Karki, 27, Yagya Bahadur Karki, 23, Bhim Bahadur Karki, 31, Yuvaraj Karki, 27, and Devi Karki, 24. Devi Karki has given birth to a baby whose condition is improving. The bus driver is absconding. Laxmi Karki, is receiving treatment at Bir hospital while the taxi driver, Dilli Man Tamang, is out of danger.
