Five robbery suspects held

Kathmandu, March 10:

The city police have nabbed a group of alleged looters from different parts of the Valley along with looted cash and goods.

Deepak Ranjit, superintendent of police at the District Police Office, Hanumandhoka, said the cops yesterday apprehended five persons allegedly involved in a series of looting incidents in the capital.

"Jeet Bahadur Lama and Ramesh Karki from Khanalthok Village Development Committee-2, Kavre and Santosh Thapa from Butwal Municipality-8, have been held," Ranjit told reporters.

According to him, Padam Kumar Shrestha from Taksar VDC-4, Bhojpur and Dhiraj Sherpa from KMC-18 are among the five arrested.

The police seized Rs 10,720, Indian currency Rs 15,500, five gold necklaces, four rings, one bangle, one Khukuri, one mobile and eight tolas of gold jewellry from them.

Three of them were arrested from Bijaychowk, Bansbari, while they were waiting for chance

to loot a house at the area, the police said.

The group had looted houses of Sitaram Rijal, Gaushala, Alok Koirala, Chabahil, Madan

Prasad Koirala, Chabahil, Muna Koirala, Chabahil, Naresh Pandey, Battisputali, Dhurba Ghimire, Chabahil and Bir Bahadur Gurung, Old Baneshwor.

Ganesh KC, deputy superintendent of police at the DPO, said the group was looting houses in Bhatkekopul of Chabahil, Gopi Krishna Hall, Ratopul, and KMC Ward Nos 7, 8 and 9.

Rajit said DPO would award the team for successfully executing the job. Police team headed by inspector Sudam Sijapati arrested the gang.
