FNJ monitoring polls

Kathmandu, April 6:

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has begun nationwide monitoring through national and international missions, and local branches on the state of access to information, travel of media persons and security of media institutions and media persons.

The International Mission comprises representatives from the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), International Media Support (IMS), Internews Network, International Safety Institute and Open Society Institute and Nepali representatives.

This mission will carry out field based media monitoring of the pre-poll, polling and vote counting in the Kathmandu valley, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj and adjoining areas, according to the FNJ.

National teams comprising central office-bearers of the FNJ will be mobilised in eastern, central and western regions from Monday. All district chapters of the FNJ will carry out media monitoring in their respective districts.

The FNJ office’s telephone numbers 4490063 and 4493873 will remain operational for any kind of problems faced at the local level or for any kind of rescue assistance while hotline 4475323 will remain open for records. The FNJ central office and the Media Monitoring Unit will remain open on the polling day.
