FNJ provides aid for slain scribe’s children’s education

Kathmandu, January 21:

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has provided a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 62,600 for the education of the three children of journalist Dekendra Bahadur Thapa killed by the Maoists. The amount was handed over to Laxmi Thapa, the widow of the slain journalist. Likewise, the federation has decided to extend their help in educating the children of journalists Nawaraj Sharma ‘Basanta’ of Kalikot and journalist Kumar Ghimire of Sindhuli district.

The three journalists were killed in separate incidents during the ongoing conflict. It may be mentioned that the Roripek Trust based in the United Kingdom has also agreed to assist the Federation of Nepalese Journalists in the interest of the family of independent journalists who have become victims of the conflict, a statement issued by the federation here today said.
