FNJ team calls on leaders
KATHMANDU: The representatives of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) today met with senior leaders of major political parties to draw their attention towards recent assault on Tika Bista, a Rukum-based journalist.
According to Posan KC, general secretary, FNJ, they submitted letter of memorandum to CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal, NC acting president Sushil Koirala, Unified CPN-Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and chairman of Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party Mahanta Thakur.
Sushil Koirala said to have told the team that the Maoists were behind the assault and also assured of severe punishment to the assailants. Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, however, maintained that none of the party members were involved in the assault.
