KATHMANDU, MAY 25
Upon her return last night, she stated that the visit had helped further strengthen Nepal-Japan relations while expanding cooperation across various development sectors.
Dr Rana informed the media that she held several high-level meetings with Japanese officials, including Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi, where they discussed issues ranging from the enhancement of bilateral ties to collaboration on diverse development projects.
"During this visit, we explored multiple aspects of Nepal-Japan relations, reviewed ongoing cooperation, and discussed future projects in Nepal. The visit also offered valuable insight into the policies and welfare systems Japan has implemented for its senior citizens," she said.
In her bilateral meeting with Minister Takeshi, the two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of issues pertaining to Nepal-Japan relations, mutual interests, and shared global concerns. Dr Rana expressed her gratitude for Japan's continued support in Nepal's development efforts.
On May 23, Dr Rana also met with Dr Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to discuss the timely implementation and completion of JICA-funded projects in Nepal. She extended her appreciation for Japan's long-standing contribution to Nepal's economic and social progress.
Earlier, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, IKUINA Akiko, paid a courtesy call on Dr Rana during the recently concluded "Sagarmatha Sambad" dialogue in Kathmandu. Dr Rana thanked Akiko for her active participation in the event.
While in Japan, Dr Rana also addressed an international conference on senior citizens in Tokyo, where she highlighted Nepal's efforts and challenges in formulating policies and ensuring welfare for the elderly.
Upon her arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Dr Rana was welcomed by officials including the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amrit Bahadur Rai.
Foreign Minister Dr Rana had departed for Japan last Monday.
