KATHMANDU, APRIL 7

Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal held a telephone conversation with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, on Monday evening.

During the call, Sheikh Abdullah extended congratulations to Minister Khanal, who expressed appreciation for the gesture.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia. Minister Khanal conveyed Nepal's solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and strongly condemned attacks on its sovereign territory, including those targeting civilians and key infrastructure such as energy facilities, ports and airports.

He also referred to the death of a Nepali national and injuries sustained by 24 others in the recent incidents.

Emphasising that war cannot be an alternative to peace, Khanal stressed the need for diplomacy and dialogue to achieve lasting stability.

Sheikh Abdullah, while assuring support for the Nepali community in the UAE, appreciated Nepal's solidarity and reaffirmed his government's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, including Nepali nationals.
