‘Form medical education committee without delay’
Kathmandu, November 26
Dr Govinda KC, a senior orthopaedic surgeon, has expressed dissatisfaction with the Ministry of Heath for allowing Koshi District Hospital to be used as a teaching hospital of Purbanchal University.
Issuing a press release today, Dr KC said, “As the Medical Education Act has already been endorsed, opening of any new medical college can’t be permitted without the approval of Medical Education Committee, which hasn’t been formed yet.”
Dr KC said they had requested the Ministry of Health not to start the process of opening any new medical college or institution until Medical Education Committee was formed.
He has urged the health ministry to immediately form the committee and get the decision approved by the Parliament to be formed after the elections.
Similarly, he has also condemned the Kathmandu University for requesting Nepal Medical Council to grant the varsity additional seats for MBBS programmes.
