KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 30

Former Finance Minister Mahesh Acharya has emphasized the need for a comprehensive campaign to improve the nation's economy.

Speaking to the media, the former Minister stressed that such a campaign should have the capacity to restore the confidence of the business community and position Nepal as an attractive destination for investment. He advised the government to develop flexible policies to attract investment, both from within the country and from foreign sources.

Acharya highlighted the importance of creating an investment-friendly atmosphere in the country to expand the scope and increase income-generation opportunities within the community. He believes that this approach will invigorate the economy.

He also noted that the country's export rate is shrinking, while there is a growing dependence on imports. The lack of revenue mobilization as per expectations has resulted in an unstable expenditure structure, suggesting the need for swift intervention, according to Acharya.
