Former PM Koirala now cancer-free
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala is now cancer-free.
Doctors declared this after reading the medical report of Koirala, who is now in US for health check up, Koirala's Personal Secretary, Atul Koirala, said on the phone.
Koirala underwent a number of health checkups including chest, tongue and throat x-ray, among others at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in US.
A team headed by senior doctor at the Centre, Dr Manjit S Bains was involved in Koirala's treatment.
Atul Koirala said that the team has suggested President Koirala to report back after six months.
Meanwhile, President Koirala participated in a dinner reception organised by the New York chapter of the party's Nepali Liaison Committee on Tuesday.
On the occasion, he said that the problem surfaced in Tarai region should be resolved through dialogue, stating it was a great achievement to promulgate the new constitution from the Constituent Assembly.
