Kathmandu, May 2:
The Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshah Path, today arrested four persons with an electronic typewriter and a number of copies of forged driving licences.
Those arrested were Rudra Pahadi, Binod Shrestha of Bishal Driving Centre, Rajesh Shrestha of Namaste Nepal Driving Centre, Samakhusi, and Pemba Sherpa.
According to inspector Rajesh Nath Bastola, all the four would be handed over to the district police office, Hanumandhoka, today for necessary action.
Bastola said the four were arrested after they found the driving licence of one Pemba Sherpa suspicious. The other three were arrested based on the tip-off provided by him.
Sherpa said he had asked Binod for the fake licence to use it abroad. Rudra Pahadi, who the police suspect as the ‘main suspect’ in the forging, was arrested from his rented room along with the machine and the forged copies of the licences. Rudra said the person who does the forgery has absconded.
Police seized 23 copies of forged licences from there.
Other 25 blank licences were also seized. “They had used holograms of the old licences,” police said.
