Four injured in Kuleshwor fighting
Kathmandu, April 27:
Four persons were injured when a fight between two traders took a nasty turn in Kuleshwor this morning, the police said.
“The two traders — Rabi Thapa and Kishan Basyal — fought in Kuleshwor today over a dispute,” police said. Thapa snatched a pistol from a sub-inspector, Rajan Adhikari, and tried to fire at Basyal,” eyewitnesses claimed. “The pistol did not discharge bullet as it was locked,” a DSP at the Kalimati-based Metropolitan Police Circle, Suresh Bikram Shah, said. Workers at the marketplace blocked traffic after the scuffle. Thapa’s supporters attacked the protesting workers with swords and iron rods. Amar Shrestha, Dhan Bahadur Tamang, Kamal Shrestha and Krishnalal Shrestha were injured in the attack. After police intervened, both the sides agreed to sit for talks tomorrow.
The SP at the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, Dhak Bahadur Karki, said there was no policeman named Rajan Adhikari. “We don’t have any policeman with that name. There is a police official named Rajan Poudel, but he didn’t come to the office today.”
“We have asked the parties to the dispute to come with the pistol tomorrow.
We can find out the facts only then,” he added.
