Four parties decide to finalise public feedback by this evening

KATHMANDU: The four major political parties have agreed to finalise the public submissions on the preliminary draft of the new constitution by this evening.

A meeting of the four major political parties held at Prime Minister Sushil Koirala's official residence in Baluwatar today allocated the responsibility of listing the public feedback to the chief whips of the four political parties.

Similarly, the four major parties' meeting to be held this evening will conclude the public submissions on the basis of the report of the chief whips.

Following the meeting, Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel shared that the parties presented their opinions and his party was in favour for making an inclusive forms of governance.

He added that the governance should be inclusive as per the public feedback.

Leader Poudel also said that they held discussions on making religious equality rather than secularism as the term secularism had given a negative meaning.

They held discussions on delineating the border of new provinces if it was possible before the promulgation of the new constitution.

Likewise, CPN-UML Vice-chair Bhim Rawal said that they held discussions on the modality of receiving and finaliSing the public feedback.

UCPN-Maoist Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that today's meeting held discussions on how to address the public feedback as the parties are committed to promulgate the new constitution by August 17.

He added that the meeting held discussions on forms of governance, border delineation, secularism and citizenship among other serious issues to be addressed in the new constitution.
