FSF-N Chair warns of blocking north, south border points

KATHMANDU: Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal (FSF-N) Chairman Upendra Yadav warned that they would block north and south border points along with Birgunj if the government did not take an initiative to address the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at the earliest.

He made the statement during an interaction organised at the Reporters' Club in the Capital on Thursday.

"The government has an opportunity to address the demands at present. It is not utilising this chance," Yadav said.

Saying that the form of protest has been changed presently, the FSF-N Chairman warned that the UDMF would resort to stern protest soon and that would be nationwide.

On a different note, he stated that it was "funny" to form a political mechanism under Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, who according to Yadav was against federalism, to resolve the issue of state demarcation.

"The mechanism was formed merely to fool India. The UDMF will not give importance to this mechanism," Yadav said.

Moreover, he claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's state visit to India was completely unsuccessful.

Saying that PM Oli did a mistake that he went to India without taking any agenda, he claimed that the Prime Minister's visit had not cleared the misunderstanding between the two countries yet.
