KATHMANDU: A man has been caught red-handed by the Metropolitan Police Circle Swayambhu, while selling cooking gas at a higher rate, on Wednesday.

Police identified the accused as Devak Paudel (38) of Sitapaila, KMC-15.

Paudel, owner of the Gorkhali Food Store and Gas Suppliers, used to bring cooking gas of Gita brand from Gajuri of Dhading and sell it from Sitapaila for Rs 1,200 for a half-filled gas cylinder.

It has been learnt that Paudel has sold as many as 30 gas cylinders already.

Similarly, four persons were arrested from Alina Tours and Travels by the Metropolitan Police Circle Gausala on Wednesday for selling a litre petrol for Rs 250. Police also seized 135 litres of petrol from them.

Police said they are investigating into the cases.
