The Revenue Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has sent a 24-hour ultimatum to the Kathmandu fun park located at Exhibition Road.
The metropolis directed the fun park to pay the business rent, entertainment, and advertising tax through a letter today.
KMC has also warned that if tax is not paid in the given time, the fun park will be sealed and fined.
The chief of Revenue Department Shiv Raj Adhikari said, "Today we sent the letter to them. They did not understand. We will post the letter tomorrow. If they do not come to pay the revenue within 24 hours, we will seal the fun park.'' Referring to the matter of receiving the arrears, he said, 'The amount to be received by the city, will be collected like government revenue'.
According Adhikari, the park has not to paid business tax, restoration tax, advertising tax and entertainment tax. But no details have been provided under any of these subjects.
"The fun park has not paid tax for seven years". Said Adhikari.
The fun park should pay the business tax and rent tax to the ward office and the advertisement tax and entertainment tax to the Revenue Department.
The fun park must pay 10 per cent of the contract annually, 5 per cent for entertainment tax, 20 thousand rupees for business and the penalty.
It has to pay 1000 rupees per square foot for external advertisement as advertising tax.
Kathmandu Fun Park is owned by Tek Bahadur Gurung, a leader of the ruling Nepali Congress and a former minister of Labour and Employment.
Earlier, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had also filed a corruption case against 14 people including former ministers Badri Neupane and Tek Bahadur Gurung for committing corruption while leasing 60 acres of land in Bhrikutimandap Fun Park of the Social Welfare Council.
