KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 24

Far Western University (FWU) and Swisscontact Nepal have signed an agreement to launch a Professional Development of TVET Instructors programme aimed at strengthening teaching quality and career pathways in Nepal's technical and vocational education sector.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Dr Danielle Meuwly as part of the Quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training for Youth (QualiTY) Project, a bilateral initiative between Nepal and Switzerland.

The memorandum was exchanged between FWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hem Raj Pant and Swisscontact Nepal Country Director Sanjay Karki, with the Training Institute for Technical Instruction (TITI) serving as a key academic and technical partner.

Under the programme, professional training for TVET instructors will be academically recognised, allowing credit transfers from TITI courses to Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at FWU and other universities.

Ambassador Meuwly said "By integrating instructor training into a Master's pathway, we are creating a sustainable model that motivates instructors, strengthens teaching quality, and builds future leaders for Nepal's TVET sector and beyond. This partnership reflects Switzerland's commitment to systemic solutions that endure long after development support ends."

TITI Executive Director Dr Anuj Bhattarai said the programme strengthens instructional competence while enhancing the professional status of vocational educators.

Swisscontact said the model builds on the success of Nepal's Master's in TVET programme and is expected to improve the overall quality and reputation of technical education in the country.
