Senior leader Shekhar Koirala to endorse Thapa's candidacy

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa is set to file his candidacy for the post of Parliamentary Party leader.
Thapa, in his endeavour to fight for the top executive post, has been backed by Shekhar Koirala, who had initially expressed will to announce his candidacy for the seat too.
The two leaders had been engaging in several rounds of talks for the last few days, which ultimately lead to reaching an agreement in favour of Thapa's candidacy. Earlier, during the party's recent most general convention, Koirala had contested the election for the post of NC president with Thapa's support.
As such, Thapa will now be contesting an election against party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to be held Wednesday.
