KATHMANDU: The government on Thursday appointed Tana Gautam as the new chairperson of Teachers Service Commission, the body responsible for appointing teachers in community schools.

The cabinet meeting took the decision to appoint Gautam as the new chairperson of the TSC as the term of former chairperson Udaya Raj Soti expired on October 1.

Gautam is the former secretary of Nepal government. Gautam has already served as director general of the Department of Information, secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Forest and Soil Conversation.
