Gold ornaments, cash stolen from assorted locations
KATHMANDU: Property including cash amounts and gold ornaments worth more than Rs 1.2 million was stolen from various parts of Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.
A thief had barged into the room of Rajendra Bhattarai and Kumar Mahat Chhettri and made off with Rs 60,000 cash and gold and silver ornaments collectively worth Rs 549,000 from Gaurighat of KMC-7.
Bhattarai (35) was from Triyuga Municipaltiy-15 of Udayapur district while Chhettri (40) was a resident of Govindapur-3 of Siraha district.
Similarly, a thief entered into the room of Shrijana Basnet (25) at Kumarigal of KMC-7, and decamped with the property with the total value of Rs 178,000 that includes gold ornaments and cash amount of Rs 70,000.
Likewise, property worth Rs 563,000 from three different rooms of a single house in Maijubhal of KMC-7 was stolen on the same day.
The thief had made off with Rs 336,000 from Laxman Pandey (31) from Sundardebi-6 of Nuwakot district, Rs 225,000 of Bhim Prasad Dahal (36) from Mkranchuli-8 of Makawanpur district and Rs 2,000 from Damodar Pandey (21) from Sundardevi-6 of Nuwakot district.
Police have intensified search operations to nab the suspects.
