Government begins revision on public holiday dates

KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting held today has assigned the Ministry of Home Affairs to revise the official annual holiday calendar.

The Ministry has been asked to do the same within a month, according to Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Karki and the government spokesperson Surendra Karki.

The decision was made today after public from various nooks and corners criticised the government for not granting the public holiday on the Prithvi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, who unified various principalities to establish a larger nation of Nepal.

Similarly, the meeting has decided to resume the reconstruction of the quake-hit schools on a contract basis, informed Minister Karki.

Staff would be appointed for the same for a period of one year, Karki added.
