Government employees warn of stir

Kathmandu, January 23:

Five unions of the civil servants yesterday urged the government to meet their demands related to the welfare of the government employees and warned the government of a stir if the demands were not addressed in three weeks.

Organising a press conference here yesterday, Nepal Civil Servants’ Organisation, Nepal Civil Servants’ Union, Nepal National Civil Servants’ Organisation, National Independent Employees’ Union Centre and Nepal Madhesi Civil Servants’ Forum stated that they had already forwarded their demands to the Ministry of General Administration.

Ganesh Basyal, president of Nepal Civil Servants’ Organisation, said vacancies in the constitutional bodies including the Public Service Commission should be filled and the name of the civil service administration should be changed to civic administration.

The unions have also raised several issues related to the security of the civil servants, skill development of employees, efficiency of their service and corruption control.
