Government to form review panel on customs clearance
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Population and Environment is planning to form a high-level committee to review the provision of providing clearance to import second-hand goods. The Ministry has taken initiatives to review its rule after the customs office at the TIA last week refused to release 50 used laptop computers meant for five schools. The computers were brought at the initiative of Nepal AOTS Alumni Society (NASS) to equip five government schools. A NASS member alleged that some officers at the Ministry had demanded “undue benefit” in return for clearance. — HNS
