Govt working to broaden acceptance of statute: Minister

Kathmandu, September 1

Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet today said the government was working to make the constitution acceptable to all.

Inaugurating the ninth conference of Nepal Ayurveda Doctors’ Association, Minister Basnet said it was a positive move of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal to participate in the third round of local level elections even though the constitution amendment bill failed in the House.“However, the government has not ignored the demands of the RJP-N,” added Minister Basnet.

He urged everyone to make provincial and parliamentary elections successful.

The minister further said that the upcoming elections would help end the political transition and pave the way for economic prosperity.

Minister Basnet also assured the participants that he would talk to stakeholders about the possibility of setting up an Ayurveda University in the country.

The two-day conference was attended by as many as 300 ayurveda doctors. Association Secretary Dr Prakash Gyawali said discussion would be held on various aspects of ayurved treatment and medicines, expansion of ayurveda services, development of human resources, and foreign investment in the sector, among other things.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Kiran Regmi said that in the recent years, the ministry was gradually augmenting investment in ayurveda sector, but return on investment was not satisfactory, he complained.

On the occasion, Dr Seshraj Acharya and Dr Sarita Shrestha were honored for their significant contribution to the field of ayurveda.
