Govt brings back Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada as NPC vice-chairman
KATHMANDU: The government on Wednesday appointed Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada as the vice-chairman of National Planning Commission.
A Cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, took decision to this effect.
Dr Khatiwada is a former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
He had served as the vice-chairman of National Planning Commission from June 2009 to March 2010 before his appointment as the 15th governor of central bank . He served at the NRB for five years till March 2015.
The KP Sharma Oli-led government brought Dr Khatiwada back to lead the NPC after Dr Govinda Pokharel recently resigned as the NPC vice-chairman.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of security personnel who were killed in the recent violent protests in Tarai-Madhes region.
