Govt employees violating Civil Service Act to be punished

Bhaktapur, January 24

Minister for General Administration Rekha Sharma today said the government would take action against civil servants violating the Civil Service Act.

Speaking at an interaction organised here today by Rafat Sanchar Club, she said provision of deputation was meant for sending civil servants to the places where they are needed. “But when they do not attend their offices, service delivery is affected,” she said.

She said the problems within the trade unions will be sorted out after the election of trade unions. “Civil servants’ increased involvement in politics is not good,” she added.

Minister Sharma conceded that she was relenting on the pressure from various people regarding transfer, promotion and deputation of the civil servants and said such pressure was only normal when someone is in power.

“The ministry has been following the good works initiated by former minister for general administration and analysing the weaknesses of the previous programmes,” she said.

She admitted that bureaucracy in the country had failed to deliver, and hence the ministry was taking initiatives to bring about reforms.
