Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the government has taken policies to best utilize the loans.
Responding to the queries on clause wise discussions on Bill to Raise National Debt, 2080 BS in today's House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, Dr Mahat said that taking loan is not wrong in itself but it is important to achieve result for the nation's economy.
He argued that the Bill was realistic and the expenses are proposed on productive sector. "Proposal has been made on the basis of realistic appraisal on external debt and decision has been made to collect only 4.6 per cent internal debt," the Finance Minister clarified.
Likewise, he said that the foreign debt will be used only in infrastructure development and development works. Similarly, only the internal debt would be used to troubleshoot the issues in case the internal resources and revenue collection failed to meet the current expenditure, according to him.
Dr Mahat was of the view that the budget has is focused on controlling non-essential increment of the current expenditure.
