Govt ignoring directives of the parliament: Leaders

Kathmandu, March 8:

Chief whip of the CPN-UML in the legislature-parliament Mahendra Pandey and Nepali Congress (Democratic) central leader Bhisma Raj Angdambe today expressed “surprise” over the government’s “indifference” on implementing the mandate and directives of the parliament.

“It is a matter of surprise that the government has been ignoring most of the directives and recommendations by the legislative-parliament, including the implemention of the Rayamajhi report and putting an end to inpunity,” Pandey told an interaction on serious violation of human rights, inpunity and indifference of state, here today.

He also suggested reforms in the training pattern for the police force saying that the traditional training pattern of the police force has to be modernised accordingly.

Angdambe consented to Pandey in criticising the government for failing to bring culprits to justice and being indifferent towards the interim parliament’s directives.

“Without putting an end to impunity, peace and democracy cannot be sustainable,” he said.

MP from Nepali Congress Kamala Pant suggested a strong and effective law so that no culprits are spared.

Prof Kapil Shrestha expressed surprise saying that people have not sensed any major change even after Jana Andolan II.

A working paper presented at the interaction suggested that the names of human rights violators during the Jana Andolan II be publicised.
