Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has expressed commitment that the government would protect Neha Rauniyar and Satyendra Ram of Barahathawa in Sarlahi, the inter-caste married couple.
Responding to queries raised by lawmakers in emergency and zero hour of today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Lekhak shared that his attention was drawn towards the issue of inter-caste marriage of Neha and Satyendra and added that the government was effortful to implement the rights against discrimination.
He shared that his party, the Nepali Congress, from its establishment is against untouchability and clarified that he was not against inter-caste marriage.
"The law has given recognition to inter-caste marriage. The Ministry shall implement it in letter and spirit. There will be security for Neha and Satyendra. The government is serious on it," asserted the Home Minister.
He also requested the media not to push the society towards separation by twisting the facts and not to prepare such content.
