KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20
The government has tabled the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact at the House of Representatives, today.
The compact was tabled at the HoR by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki on behalf of Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma as the latter gave the session a miss.
However, the ratification of the compact is still uncertain as the lawmakers - both in ruling coalition and in opposition - are divided over the endorsement of the same.
The erstwhile government of the now dissolved Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by KP Sharma Oli had registered a proposal for MCC ratification in June 2019, which had not materialised due to lack of cooperation from its then lawmakers from Nepal-Dahal led faction.
Following the tabling of the MCC Compact, the Federal Parliament has been postponed for four days, till February 24.
