Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav on Wednesday said the government aims to create employment opportunities for 100,000 people this fiscal year through a series of targeted programmes.
Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives' Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee, Yadav said the ministry has prepared 12 action plans under the National Employment Programme, including a Green Job Mission, to expand domestic employment opportunities.
The minister also said the government is working to rescue 155 Nepalis stranded abroad without valid documents or while travelling on visit visas. He said the rescue and repatriation process is underway and will be financed through the Foreign Employment Welfare Fund.
Yadav said the Foreign Employment Act has been revised to address emerging challenges, while a task force has been formed to curb fraud carried out in the name of "free visa" and "free ticket" schemes.
He added that the ministry has introduced an online complaint system to enable victims of foreign employment fraud to file grievances more effectively.
