Kathmandu, November 19:

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam today expressed commitment that the government was ready to implement the directives and recommendations of the

National Human Rights Commission regarding the cases of human rights

violation.

In a meeting with the commissioners of the NHRC, the Deputy Prime Minister

assured them that the government was committed to book anyone involved in human rights violation.

Home Secretary Dr Govinda Kusum, Nepal Police Inspector General Hem Bahadur Gurung, Armed Police Force Inspector General Basudev Oli and the chief of the National Investigation Department Dhan Singh Basnet were also present in the meeting.

Top officials Rabindra Shrestha, Binod Singh and Bishal Khanal also attended the meeting.

The Home Minister was responding to NHRC chairman Kedar Nath Upadhayay’s concern about the withdrawal of cases filed in court against those accused of gross human rights violations in Rautahat, Dang and Banke killings.

National Human Rights Commission member Ram Nagina Singh said the police were involved in human rights abuse cases, while activists of the political parties

were involved in threaten farmers.

NHRC spokesperson Gauri Pradhan condemned the youth forces of political parties involved in illegal activities.

Another National Human Rights Commission member Dr Lila Pathak claimed the police were ignoring the complaints of women against oppression.
