Govt to address transporters’ woes

Kathmandu, April 9:

Minister for Labour and Transport Management Ram Nar-ayan Singh today said the government is ready to solve the problems faced by the transport entrepreneurs. He said this while inaugurating an awareness education camp on “behaviour of public transport workers with the passengers and their role in traffic management” organised by Araniko Transport Services Committee. Singh expressed his commitment to work for amending the rules and regulations hampering transport entrepreneurs’ performance.

Singh honoured driver Govinda Bahadur Karki, who has been driving a bus on the Kathmandu-Jiri route for the last 30 years, with a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a letter of appreciation. SSP Surendra Bahadur Pal and sub inspector Sita Ram Hachhethu were also felicitated for their contribution in the management of traffic in the valley.
