Govt, UDMF talks inconclusive

KATHMANDU: Talks teams of the government and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held a meeting on Thursday, but failed to make a solid decision on constitutional issues.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon.

The meeting ended inconclusively after both sides remain adamant on their stances.

Earlier on October 26, a two-member committee was formed to implement the remaining conditions put forth by the Front.

The conditions include martyrdom status to those killed during protests, free treatment to the injured, compensation to the victims’ families and withdrawal of security forces from Tarai districts among others.

The alliance has been staging protests in various parts of Tarai region demanding amendments in the new constitution for more then two months.

The next meeting has been scheduled for Sunday.
