GPK's resume for Nobel prize ready
KATHMANDU: A task force that was formed by the government to prepare a biography of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala submitted its report to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala today. The government has decided to recommend the octogenarian leader for the Nobel Peace Prize 2010. With the receipt of the biography, the recommendation process has begun.
According to a source at the foreign ministry, the biography highlights president Koirala's contribution in bringing the armed forces to mainstream politics and protecting democratic institutions such as press freedom, human rights and the rule of law. The biography also states that the NC president played a leading role in various democratic movements in the country.
