KATHMANDU: Amidst various cultural programmes, the Gurung community in and outside the Kathmandu Valley today celebrated Lhosar to mark the dawn of New Year. The celebration marked the end of the Year of Cows and the dawn of the Year of Tigers. As part of the celebration, Gurungs nationwide took blessings from their elders and exchanged good wishes among each other. Gurungs in the capital also organised a special function at Tundikhel. Earlier, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal in separate messages wished for peace and prosperity on the occasion of Lhosar.
