KATHMANDU, APRIL 06

Kathmandu District Administration authorities have decided to set up health desks at all the entry points to Kathmandu to conduct Covid-19 symptom check and antigen tests, and to appoint a focal person to oversee the said operations.

The District Administration Office has issued a directive to all concerned municipalities to make the necessary arrangements to set up the health desk.

Likewise, it has been further decided that swab samples will be collected for PCR test from people who test negative for Covid-19 Antigen but still exhibit symptoms corresponding to the infection upon health inspection, at the check-up desk.

Furthermore, the municipality offices in the district have been directed to update the facilities at isolation and quarantine centres and to keep at least one such facility, each, operational in each municipality.

In a similar manner, authorities have urged people to not conduct or participate in activities that require mass participation in public given the risks of spread of infection.

The new directives have been issued at a time when the country is witnessing spike in the number of daily reported infections as well as the risk of a new wave of the pandemic given the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in neighbouring India.
