Health insurance for journalists
Kathmandu, April 4:
The Unity Group is introducing an ambitious free accidental insurance scheme worth Rs 1,00,000 for journalists.
“Though many say the scheme is ambitious, we will make it happen,” said Bishnu Chhetri, one of the executives of the group. He said those working journalists who take the offer will be offered 25 per cent discount in the treatment in the group’s hospital. “The scheme is a health insurance package and we cover every aspect of beneficiaries’ health.”
According to him, a committee has been formed to check whether applicants are associated with journalism.
The group has tied up with the Everest Insurance Company to launch the 10-year scheme. “We want other sectors to launch such schemes,” he said.
“It surely is a desirable scheme for a journalist, who often face troubles,” said Dharma Raj Dahal, journalist and coordinator of the committee. He said the formal announcement of the scheme will be made this week.
