KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 19
Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel has urged Singha Durbar Vaidhyakhana to enhance the production of Ayurvedic medicines.
"There is a market demand for medicines produced by the Vaidhyakhana; you must increase production," the Health Minister emphasized while addressing the Vaidhyakhana staff during an inspection of its manufacturing facilities today.
He also instructed the management to explore alternative measures, including blacklisting contractors failing to supply essential raw materials. He noted that the unavailability of Vaidhyakhana's products in the market has become a pressing concern.
"Why are we not producing medicines with high market demand? We will ensure adequate budgetary support for production, but you must scale up operations," the Health Minister urged.
In response to employee complaints about resource constraints, the Minister clarified that the government had recently allocated a budget to the Vaidhyakhana. While capital support for production activities is feasible, he reiterated that funds cannot be provided for salary payments.
