KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

The U.S Embassy Kathmandu in collaboration with the Nepal Hip Hop foundation has organized Hip Hop Mela 'Khulau Bolau' at Annapurna Pavilion Kathmandu today.

The program showcased the performances of Hip Hop artists and musicians from Nepal and the United States.

American artists Substantial, DJ Fleg, Shanna Lim, Mazi Mutafa,along with Nepali artists including Laure, Bad Kompany, Professor Trix, Vyoma, Kiran Nepali (Kutumba), Amazumi among others rocked the stage.

The program featured a range of artistic expressions, including dance, music, spoken word, and visual art exhibitions. Beyond entertainment, the concert seeks to foster cross-cultural understanding and dialogue on the role of hip-hop as a tool for social change and activism.

The US Embassy has brought four American artists to Kathmandu, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop's birth as a part of The Arts Envoy HipHop Program 2024. During the program, American artists collaborate with Nepali rappers, dancers, and producers, hosting workshops and discussions to impart technical skills in spoken word, rap, production, and dance.
