Hit-and-run suspect taken under control

KATHMANDU: Police have taken a bus and its driver under control suspecting that the driver might have caused the accident on Sunday morning at Baneshwor.

Medical doctor Prabhu Prasad Joshi, 74, had lost his life in the accident.

The bus operates on the Kathmandu-Ramechhap route.

Police were facing a hard time identifying the bus as there were no eye-witnesses of the accident and the high definition CCTV cameras installed in the area had also failed to capture clear footage due to poor visibility.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati at Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, said that they had narrowed down the investigation and have summoned the bus and the bus-driver to the police station.

“Although we are pretty sure that the same bus has caused the accident, we will bring out the truth after complete investigation,” said DSP Bogati, adding that the investigation would be over by Tuesday evening.
