HLPCC urges PM to strengthen Nepal-India relations

KATHMANDU: The High Level Political Coordination Committee (HLPCC) said that the impending visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to India would focus on further strengthening Nepal-India relations.

A meeting of the HLPCC held at the Legislature-Parliament building in New Baneshwor stressed that the PM's upcoming India visit should be focus on strengthening Nepal-India relations on a sustainable foundation, said senior leader of the CPN-UML, Jhala Nath Khanal.

Discussions regarding formation of political committee to collect suggestions for settling the dispute over delineation of federal provinces as demanded by the United Democratic Madhesi Front were also held in the meeting of ruling coalition members.

The meeting also discussed if the main opposition Nepali Congress and the agitating UDMF would be consulted before the PM's India visit.

Present on the occasion were HLPCC Coordinator and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prime Minister Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Kamal Thapa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, among other leaders.
