Holi reveller dies in motorbike accident
Kathmandu, March 20
A person was killed in a bike accident at Dallu, Kathmandu, this afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Basnet, 29, of Kirtipur Municipality.
Sunil had arrived in Dallu from Kirtipur to celebrate Holi with his friends. Sunil had then asked a friend to let him ride his motorbike. As Sunil was drunk, he lost control over the motorbike when he was just 150 metres. He, along with the motorbike, skidded some 20 metres on the road, according to Deepak Magar, one of Sunil’s friend. Sunil, who suffered serious injuries to his head, was rushed to Manmohan Memorial Medical College and Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The motorbike while skidding on the road had also hit three women, who returned home after minor treatment at the hospital. Sunil’s friends said he was not even wearing the safety helmet.
According to DSP Sudip Sahi at Metropolitan Police Circle, Swoyambhu, Sunil died due to head injuries. The body was taken to the Department of Forensic Medicine at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for post-mortem report.
