Lalitpur, July 21:

Even though the students raise their voices against teachers and the college administration for the sake of their rights time and again, they show their utmost respect to teachers on occasions like ‘Guru Purmina’ (teachers’ day). The students of the Department of Architecture (DoA) under the Pulchowk Campus paid their respect by dedicating the three-day eighth Architectural Exhibition to their teachers. Residential designs, aseismic designs and functioning of stone spouts, among others, have been put on display at the exhibition. Inaugurating the exhibition, Bikesh Pradhan, the president of the Association of Students of Architecture (ASA), said: “We have organised the exhibition to express our gratitude to our teachers in an innovative way.” At the function organised at the DoA, Nirmal Paudel, the chairman of the Free Students’ Union at the Pulchowk Campus, apologised on behalf of the students for their rude behaviour towards teachers and the college administration in the past. “Protests against the college administration notwithstanding, the students have always shown their respect to their teachers,” Paudel said. Suman Nanda Baidhya, the chief of the Pulchowk Campus, said, “Conflicts between the administration and the students have never affected academic relationship between the teachers and the students at Pulchowk Campus.”

“Students’ demands have always been genuine,” he said, adding that they had always motivated “us to pay attention to the college.” Batu Krishna Parajuli, the assistant chief of the Campus, said that students’ demands were in line with the changing times.
