KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal today met Khyati Shrestha's parents and extended his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family in person at the latter's

residence.

Khyati (18), a 12th grader at Jubilant College and Research Centre in Kalimati, was killed in cold blood after being abducted on June 5.

According to police, she was hacked to death on the same day.

"Home minster met the devastated family and consoled them with firm commitment of taking harsh action against the perpetrators at the earliest," said Dirgha Khadka, the minister's PA.

Minister Rawal assured the family that government was with them.

"I and the police department shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that the guilty are suitably punished," Khadka quoted Rawal as saying.

The Shrestha couple burst into tears while recounting the harrowing tale about their only child's tragic end.

The Shresthas, originally from Biratnagar, are living in a rented house in Anamnagar. Gopal and Radha, Khyati's parents, demanded that a stern action be taken against criminals and that peace be restored in the society.

Acting on the information obtained from Biren Pradhan, the prime accused, the police have recovered mutilated limbs, body parts and severed head of Khyati from a number of places.

The accused has admitted to kidnapping and killing Khyati and has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
