KATHMANDU, MAY 18

The meeting of the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament began today amid protest from lawmakers of the Shram Sanskriti Party.

Soon after the session commenced, party chair Harkaraj Rai and other members stood up from their seats, displaying placards against the government and attempting to approach the well of the House. They were, however, stopped by security personnel.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal took note of the protest and said that demonstrating with placards in the House was against parliamentary norms and decorum. He directed members not to repeat such actions in the future.

The party had earlier boycotted the House meeting on April 13 after Prime Minister Balendra Shah failed to respond to issues raised during deliberations on the government's policies and programmes.

Today's agenda includes reshuffling members of the Business Advisory Committee, tabling the report of the House Regulations Draft Committee, and initiating discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the upcoming fiscal year.
