IGP Aryal tells cops to enforce new laws
Kathmandu, December 29: Nepal Police held an interaction on challenges facing implementation of the newly promulgated Criminal Code Bill and Criminal Procedure (Code) Bill at its headquarters in Naxal today.
The interaction was organised by Criminal Investigation Department of Nepal Police. Speaking at the programme, Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal said investigating officers would be dispelled of confusion and suspicion surrounding the enforcement of new laws.
He directed the police personnel to conduct criminal investigation in a free and fair manner regardless of any external pressure and intervention. “The laws have stipulated clear provisions to punish the perpetrators and do justice to the victims by adopting the underlying principles of criminal justice. They have also consolidated the existing laws to make the criminal investigation more scientific, simple and systematic,” IGP Aryal informed.
The laws have expanded the limit of criminal offence and punishment to maintain peace and order in society. He also directed the police personnel to be prepared for strict enforcement of the law and demonstrate their investigation capacity. The laws will come into effect from August 17, 2018.
Various participants of the interaction also presented papers on the challenges to implementation of the laws. AIGs, DIGs and SSPs available in the Valley attended the interaction.
