Call to defer FSU polls

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Students’ Federation (NINSF) has demanded that the election of Free Students’ Union, slated for March 19, be postponed. In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister and Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, the federation warned of dire consequences if the polls were held without making them inclusive and proportional. — HNS

TV channels’ demand

KATHMANDU: Television Broadcasters’ Nepal (TBN) on Wednesday handed a memorandum to minister for information Krishna Bahadur Mahara, demanding subsidy in licence renewal and fuel and government advertisements to TV stations. A delegation led by TBN chairman RK Manandhar asked the minister not to allow rights to transmission, distribution and production to a single organisation. Mahara said the government would bring the Nepal 1 TV under legal purview. — HNS
