Earthquake Safety Day

KATHMANDU:

Home Minister and chairman of the Earthquake Safety Day national committee Purna Bahadur Khadka participated in a function held at Bhugolpark on Saturday morning and paid tributes to the known and unknown who have perished in earthquakes. The gathering organised as usual on Magh 2 as part of National Earthquake Safety Day by KMC observed a minute’s silence wishing peace for the departed souls of the killed. — RSS

Panel submits report

KATHMANDU:

Guthi Problems Solution Recommendation Committee-2061 on Friday submitted its preliminary report to the Minister for Land Reform and Management Jog Mehar Shrestha. The committee has recommended for the amendment of the Guthi Corporation Act-2033, besides putting forward other recommendations, it is said. — RSS

Novelist Sayami felicitated

KATHMANDU:

Writer of famous Nepali novel Ganki and member of Royal Nepal Academy Dhuswa Sayami was felicitated on Friday. He was felicitated at a function held to release Novelist Dhuswa Sayami: A Biography published by Ganki Basundhara Foundation. Likewise, Ganki-Basundhara literary award of the foundation was given away to novelist Gitakeshari. — RSS

Navadurga Dance begins

BHAKTAPUR:

The famous Lichhivi period Navadurga Dance of Bhaktapur district commenced for public viewing at local Sujamhari Dabali (stage) on Saturday. The dance is also known as Ngyalangkegu dance which means the dance of catching fish in local dialect of Nepal Bhasa. The annual dance, bearing historical, religious and Tantrik significance, is performed every day for six months starting from the next day of the Maghe Sankranti and lasts till Ashad Krishna Astami. — RSS
